PRODUCT: CAGE-LIGHTS

CAGE-LIGHTS are realistic copyable industrial or factory-style lights that are perfect for your grungy Second Life hangout or build. They come in two versions, STANDARD and BROKEN, the standard versions work as conventional lighting while the broken versions, with their smashed bulbs, add atmosphere by flashing and sparking at random intervals. CAGE-LIGHTS are also low-prim – only 5 prims each for the WALL and HANGING versions and just 4 prims for each WALL version.

Each versions comes in three styles, WALL, HANGING and FLOOR, and each of the three styles comes in 2 colours – Industrial Grey and Hazard Yellow. That’s a total of 12 different variations, in case you were counting! You can make each light look unique by making simple changes to the ‘Vertical (V)’ texture mapping on the base – sliding the texture up/down will change the light from a slightly aged look through to extra-rusty and ancient-looking.

The STANDARD CAGE-LIGHTS work as conventional lights, they’re menu-controlled and you can choose from 2 lit styles – with or without a particle corona. Pick the setting which looks best with your favourite sky or graphics setting or use the auto settings which will turn the light on or off as the (region default) sun sets sets or rises. You can get funky by tinting the bulb-glass a different colour and the emitted light and particle corona will automatically change to match your new colour.
The BROKEN CAGE-LIGHTS add mood and atmosphere by flashing and sparking at random intervals. Each time they fire you get a flash of light, a flickering particle effect, a burst of sparks, a sparking sound effect and a small cloud of smoke. Each of the effects is randomly varied (within carefully set parameters) for a realistic effect and to ensure multiple cage-lights never synchronise. They’re also menu-controlled and you can choose how frequently you’d like the flashes to happen – there are five settings from ‘constant’ (between 1 and 5 seconds) through to ‘rarely’ (between 10 and 150 seconds) to suit any situation. NB: the broken cage-lights don’t work as standard always-on lights, they only flash at random and are meant to be used alongside conventional lights.
